The problem is that no matter how compliant actual US citizens are, no matter how many new layers of invasive information we supply, the wicked who allow illegal "immigrants" to rape, kill, steal and traffic to their hearts content, will never pause a moment to protect innocent, God-fearing, law abiding AMERICANS. I want all the "freedoms" allotted by the wicked to "illegals" for myself: The right to travel (even across the US border with no documentation whatsoever, the right to vote, the right to own a gun without letting the government know, the right to enroll my child in school without proof of immunization, the right to a free college education, etc. Get, it? The more I comply with privacy robbing rules, the more the "government " victimizes me!
I think in a very different way, I reached the same conclusion as you did. Closing the border represented an immediate threat to people's lives, people who are victims, not criminals. I wanted the border shut! But a few things tipped me off that some innocent people would face devastating harm (and I know that Americans near the border are being harmed, too).
