Paul taught about two systems of law, and made many references to the differences between them. The full understanding of this has always been hidden knowledge, reserved for a future time, which we now happen to live in. In previous times, these differences were intended to be ambiguous for many reasons - such as so he could be all things to all men, as he says, for instance. But understanding it all more fully now makes a lot of others things more understandable too - things we now need to know, unlike any generation before us.
