Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith, appears in the short clip which has been placed on the army's YouTube channel.

He says it is not appropriate to comment about specific allegations but goes on to tell viewers: "Where serious allegations are proven against members of the army… it demonstrates indiscipline that is wildly at odds with the values and standards that represent the fabric of not just our army, but the nation's army.

"Not only is it downright unacceptable, it's illegal and it stands in stark contrast with everything the British army represents."

Six British army troops have been arrested over an alleged attack on a teenage female soldier.

Earlier this week, footage of soldiers shooting at a photograph of the Labour leader during target practice was shared on Snapchat.

General Carleton-Smith added: "The British soldier is known for many things; stoicism, a sense of honour and duty, courage, a sense of humour and an honest sense of decency… It's not less than the country expects…

PHOENIX, Ore. - Human remains were found at the home of actor and original “Mousketeer” Dennis Day, who has been missing since July 2018, Oregon State Police said.

The remains, found Thursday at Day’s Phoenix, Oregon home, haven’t yet been identified, Oregon State Police told The Medford Mail Tribune. Police haven’t disclosed how the remains were found.

Day, 76, is an actor and appeared as a Mouseketeer in the original 1950s run of “THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB.” He was reported missing July 15 by his husband, who has memory loss and was in a hospital at the time, Oregon Live reported.

Day reportedly told neighbors he was headed out for a few days – and that was the last time they saw him, according to KOBI-TV. A missing persons report said he “uncharacteristically” left his dog with a friend on the day he disappeared. His car was found July 26 at the Oregon coast.

Day’s disappearance went largely unnoticed until December, when his family saw a news report on his disappearance, Oregon Live reported. His family spoke to “Dateline” in December.

“We are devastated," Day’s niece, Denise Norris, told Dateline. “We had no idea anything was happening, and six months into it, we figured it out. We should have been notified.”

Day’s family set up the “Help Us Find Dennis Day!” Facebook page, where they post updates on the investigation

Former President Obama expressed concern about the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, saying that he feared it could end up undercutting allies.

Speaking at a town hall event on Saturday for the Obama Foundation in Berlin, the former president spoke about the need for compromise in politics, citing the Affordable Care Act as something that he said signified progress, though it did not achieve all of his aspirations for U.S. healthcare.

“One of the things I do worry about sometimes among progressives in the United States, maybe it’s true here as well, is a certain kind of rigidity where we say, ‘Uh, I’m sorry, this is how it’s going to be’ and then we start sometimes creating what’s called a 'circular firing squad' where you start shooting at your allies because one of them has strayed from purity on the issues. And when that happens, typically the overall effort and movement weakens,” he said.

“So I think whether you are speaking as a citizen or as a political leader or as an organizer…you have to recognize that the way we structure democracy requires you to take into account people who don’t agree with you, and that by definition means you’re not going to get 100 percent of what you want.”

Obama, who began his career in politics as a community organizer in Chicago before becoming an Illinois state senator and, later, a U.S. senator, recounted frustration he felt when politicians told him they could not deliver as much progress on an issue as he would like.

Still, Obama said his perspective has changed throughout his political career.

“You should take some time to think in your own mind and continually refine and reflect, ‘what are my core principles’ because the danger is if you don’t know what your principles are, that’s when you compromise your principles away,” he said. “You can’t set up a system in which you don’t compromise on anything, but you also can’t operate in a system where you compromise on everything.”

Obama's remarks come as over a dozen Democrats vie for the party’s 2020 presidential nomination. Some candidates have angled to appeal to the party's burgeoning progressive wing that has garnered a reputation for criticizing politicians who, some say, have not taken bold enough steps to enact change.
