It implies not only someone nobody would expect, but likely someone
everyone would refuse to consider to the point of arguing against
him.
I'm old enough to remember when him/he were used as a pronouns in
cases when actual gender was unknown. 37 genders later… sigh.

When I was growing up you used him/he if you didn't know.
Now people get offended if you misgender someone with the wrong
pronoun. It's absurd.
