That all 19,000 messages were recovered sounds like the drive had been copied beforehand in anticipation of such a move. I thought that then, I think it still.
There is no plausible excuse for giving the Mueller team the original drive to work from because that would have broken the whole chain of custody thing and have made the drive inadmissible as evidence. They would have been given an imaged drive … not the original.
