To them, they are the world and the world exists for them (and they even try to be 'deep' by trying to remind themselves that this is an arrogant and conceited mindset).
Of course, there are a few deliberately creating that false sense of reality and profiting from the perils of those outside the ivory spires.

We are LITERALLY on a board where the 'leader' has proposed the concept of being able to know nearly everything electronic and discussing massive efforts on the part of tech companies to track and index people no matter how they do (or don't) interact with the internet.
