NEW YORK - A new report out says that the MTA's facial-recognition testing at the RFK bridge is not capturing the faces of drivers.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, the pilot program to scan and identify driver's faces as they pass over the bridge between the Bronx and Queens has failed so far.
An internal MTA email apparently says there are technical challenges as well as privacy concerns with the technology.
It is meant to be used to see the faces of people in cars and run it against data bases as a security effort to track terrorists.
But experts say the initial testing detected zero percent of faces.
And despite the failure, MTA officials do plan to go forward with the pilot program.
