As a covert Operations Officer, Plame worked to protect U.S. national security and managed top-secret programs designed to prevent terrorists and rogue nation-states from acquiring nuclear weapons. In 2003, a source from the White House told a columnist about her identity, bringing an end to her covert career.
In 2007, Plame wrote an autobiography, Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House, in which she published the intimate details of the scandal that revealed her identity. She also coauthored the fictional spy thrillers Blowback and Burned.
Plame continues to serve in intelligence as a board member of a cyber security company, Global Data Sentinel, and a predictive behavioral analytics agency, Starling Trust. She also serves on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations.
