Nurse anon here. I am confused on the Candida scare. My experience with Candida that sucked is cancer, HIV, elderly, and peg tube patients… It causes white blisters in the mouth called thrush and is treated with a "swish and swallow" mixture of nystatin and Mylanta. CDC has put out a warning so it must be serious BUT not sure what it is. In medical facilities, Staph (MRSA) stays on surfaces for 2 weeks, C-diff is horrible causing the runs and is a killer to get rid of but this I am confused. CDC is saying it is drug resistant and stays on surfaces for 1 mo+. Any other medical prof, please chime in because I do not get it.

Thank you for the sauce. Really. Just in my experience, it is horrible, uncomfortable, and a yuck but goes away with consistant treatment of nystatin and maalox or mylanta in 10 days or so. Seems weird is all.

It is irratating and yuck but nothing like staph or c-diff. I am not minimizing how it takes over skin folds/ mouth (the worst) or peg tube sites. It breaks down skin. It is bad just not freak out pandimic bad. This is where I am confused.
