People here get a bit worked up over simple statements. Sure - it could be reality-destroying existential factoids that drive people to suicidal Nihilism.
But I think it's the fact that most people don't care or think about how the world works, so long as it works. The entire power structure of the world could change, and so long as they get to do honest work for honest pay while seeing their children have it a little better than they did… They don't really care. They don't care what a dollar is, so long as it serves its function in a way they understand. They don't care what produces the electricity, so long as the bill is reasonable and they aren't breathing in smog. They don't care who the POTUS is so long as what he or she says remains mostly words on TV that don't upset their lives.
The average person does not dig deep into much of anything but a select, narrow field of passion. Whether this is cultural or human nature is debatable - but they do not get the same joy of challenging their own world view as we do. We are used to looking under the cushions at our relatives or behind the closed doors at our churches. We look for things to dig into and understand… Sometimes to the point where we are way outside of reality. It's possible to see things and connections that aren't really there.
We are used to this type of thing. But people who are used to the 'arts' as Hollywood movies? People who have been pigeonholed into cultural survivalism - clinging desperately to the few pillars of their culture that remain?
Then you show the churches being complicit in child rape, adoption centers being mail order services, scientists scheming to destroy intellectual progress, and doctors orchestrating mass poisonings…
Who the fuck is left to trust?
The routing of the criminals must be done. But you must do so very carefully. Will the masses of Protestants understand if the FBI goes on a rampage through the churches and throws away popular ministers? After decades of slander in the media and chiding by social progressives, they will reject evidence and resort to tribalism. The same with many of the other groups.
It must be done carefully and quietly. The evidence may be there for those who are interested to see - but public announcements and "ha-has" will be relatively few and far between outside of the political sphere.
That is also why economy is so important. People who have jobs and security of income are not nearly as stressed by political events. People who are proud to do their work and to build their lives are often times very optimistic when taking on change.
