The last few years I have seen nothing but piss poor care in five different "reputable" hospitals with various family members and friends. Neglect, lack of communication and coordination of care, mistakes and not following standard hygiene I have witnessed it all. Hospitals need to have more patient advocates who keep doctors and nurses following the plan of care for patients. My advice, have someone (family, friend, or aide) in that room with them at all times, even overnight. Even the best medical workers get burned out.
I am hoping for a huge overhaul of the entire medical, pharmaceutical and insurance industries. Patients are paying customers, not chattel.
