Don't be a dick, guy's probably in his 20s or younger. The kids are specifically not taught to take pride in anything. Almost all of them are like that. They basically need a miracle. Or I guess you could berate the thin hope of a future for civilization until it dies off and the savages are left to maintain the machinery until it breaks.

Yeah, they're taught not to understand that either. You know how most Americans have automatic transmissions and completely take them for granted? The thing's a goddamn miracle of technology, a fluid coupling and an astronomy simulator somehow turned into a propulsion system controlled by a fluid filled labyrinth and a stack of discs. And no one bothers understanding even the basics! I don't want to offer pity in response to this situation, but a solution. Fuck if I can think of one though.
