It's a matter of weighing logic against hope,
anons were hoping Mueller was a white hat and part of the plan, and in thinking this some found it logical in order to set a trap for the bad players.
I was not sure until Q's post, because there was alot of smoke and mirrors around questions such as these( who is good /bad and who is acting)
