Waldman was working for Assange and WL. What was his motive?

We learned in the leaked texts that he was doing the pro bono work to protect the CIA, Obama, and Dems. He believed that if Assange could be brought back to the U.S. damage could be mitigated.

Waldman to Warner text:

"Just want to underscore my opinion and the reason I got involved – this guy is going to do something catastrophic for the dems, Obama, CIA and national security. I hope someone will consider getting him to the US to ameliorate the damage."

If Assange is "Our Guy" in these texts, Steele, Ohr, and Comey thought bringing Assange to the U.S. would be a disaster.

Steele: "We can’t allow our guy to be forced to go back home. It would be disastrous all round."
