Not sure if anyone put this together when it was immediately happening but something occurred to me re: BOEING

Given the following:

  • China engages in industrial espionage against us

  • Boeing - not only makes airliners but also mil products, would be a major target for Chinese spying

  • Boeing is a large employer, destroying their reputation/business would harm the US economy

  • US efforts to thwart Huawei, discourage "allies" to use their insecure products (to the extent that we cannot share intel with them if they do)

  • Huawei executive arrested within the last few months

  • HRC illegal, unsecured server had a lot of info on it that we don't know the topics, but was open to those who 'paid to play'

Is it plausible that the rash of Boeing planes experiencing catastrophic events recently a confluence of those factors above as a tit-for-tat by China as revenge/warning for US efforts against Huawei and to hurt US economy?

I saw a twatter thread where someone who knew aircraft engineering and software engineering talking about how one problem lead to another, which cascaded. The initial excuse was software glitch/lack of training for software patch or something, which seems good for plausible deniability, but I just cannot help but look at the situation in a larger geo-economic-political context.

Yes, Airbus would stand to gain also, so that can't be discounted. But the arrest of Huawei executive & US effort (via Pompeo) against their products seem a really good reason for China to retaliate in the way that China does

>victims in the Christchurch shooting were a software programmer and an aircraft engineer.

excellent point - significant event that likely affected not only their economy but also intel gathering!
