Sadly, it has been recently discovered that she has a tumor in her pancreas. We do not know whether it is cancerous or not as there was no reason for a biopsy since the Whipple procedure needs to be performed regardless. The Whipple procedure is extremely expensive even with insurance. Based on my research, this procedure could cost upwards of 200,000 dollars without insurance. I am asking for 57,000 dollars to help with aftercare and to help with the missed income from work. My mother has been supporting my grandparents and two sisters with her single income and this would be extremely detrimental to our family unit. I do not want her worrying about finances as she should be focused on recovery. I nor any of my family members can produce enough money without the help and although we will chip in as much as we can it will greatly fall short from the goal needed. Surgery date is April 24, 2019. Any donations or prayers would be much appreciated as my mother and family prepare for some very difficult days in the near future.

The Whipple procedure, or pancreaticoduodenectomy, is the most common surgery to remove tumors in the pancreas. Surgery to remove a tumor offers the best chance for long-term control of all pancreatic cancer types.
