Great question, not sure the answer.

Find it rather interesting that the document they chose to show to the public was Assange's lawyer's defense strategy memo that states that among other things that there are accusations in the US against Assange of "espionage & treason".

 

Now why would they choose to show something so sensitive to his case if they knew he was in imminent danger of being arrested?
