This was a BIG topic a few years ago when he DID change the dates to 1984.
They were changed shortly AFTER the October 2016 craziness.
There has never been an actual answer as to why it was changed. But the assumption that is most logical was that he was referring to Orwell's book.
Since what the DS was/is still doing is pretty much using that book as a how to guide.
The going theory back then was also that he changed the dates to hint that they have been tampered with somehow after Wikileaks was taken over. Either by removing documents(which we know that DID happen with Podesta emails/Hillary emails) Or were altered somehow.
