she couldn't have been in Hitler youth. She was born in 1954 (unless that's made up)
Her dad would have been in the Hitler youth at the start of the war, being born in 1926. He'd have been 13 when Germany invaded Poland.
Angela was in the Socialist youth, or whatever they called it in East Germany.
Have to say, I doubted the anon who kept telling me that Merkel was related to Hitler when I was posting stuff about her awhile back.
She was almost certainly involved with the East German secret police, which makes Q's information extraordinarily strange. And her dad seems to have gone to Berlin as a pastor with the express purpose of working with the communists. He had the nickname "Red Kasner" according to this article
