Some time ago we learned that many private aircraft are owned by straw owners. There was some company in texas(?) that was the registrant for hundreds of aircraft. Operator buys the aircraft via an LLC to limit liability. Sometimes sets up sharing arrangement with co-owners. It also disguises ownership since there's no requirement that an LLC be named anything related to the owner.
