But as many as received him (Jesus), to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 who were born, not of blood (bloodlines), nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (Jn. 1:12-13 ASV)

Paul teaches the same thing. It's not bloodlines.

neither to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questionings, rather than a dispensation of God which is in faith; so do I now. (1 Tim. 1:4 ASV)
