The way I see it, since dark fallen angels are trapped here forever, they try to live in mortality through people.

So yes, they try to live forever because they are stuck here and the "energy/soul etc." can't ever go back.

I think the schedule is fluid as events unfold. When things happens (also we dig) the further it goes, the more they unroll.

Once the cascade of effects has started, there's no way to slow it down.
