NY Dems reject tuition aid for Gold Star kids after doling out millions for illegal students

New York State Assembly Democrats denied hundreds of thousands of dollars in tuition money to relatives of Gold Star veterans on Tuesday but granted $27 million for illegal aliens' college tuition in a state budget earlier in April.

In a 15-11 vote, New York's Assembly Higher Education Committee decided not to allocate more money to a $2.7 million program that currently helps 145 students related to or dependent on disabled and deceased combat veterans to pay college tuition, the New York Post reported.

“We have a moral obligation, a social obligation to help those families who lost their provider, their loved one, in service to this nation"

“We will make every effort to ensure going forward, we have some additional resources allocated to the program so that as an entitlement, it is not falling short of the needs of our military families,” Democrat Assemblywoman Deborah Glick said, according to the Post.

“Assemblywoman Glick should be ashamed of herself,” Republican state Sen. Robert Ortt, who sponsored the proposed funding, said. “We set aside $27 million dollars for college for people that are here illegally…apparently $2.7 million is all that the families of soldiers who are killed, get. If you’re a child of a fallen soldier, you do not rank as high and you know that by the money.”

China Scores Ideological Coup As It Exports Social Engineering Technologies

Cheap manufactured products are not China’s primary exports, but social engineering technologies are. Authoritarian regimes are eagerly adopting China’s dystopian surveillance and censorship technologies, using data and manipulation to maintain their power. ⁃ TN Editor

A swathe of the world is adopting China’s vision for a tightly controlled internet over the unfettered American approach, a stunning ideological coup for Beijing that would have been unthinkable less than a decade ago.

Vietnam and Thailand are among the Southeast Asian nations warming to a governance model that twins sweeping content curbs with uncompromising data controls — because it helps preserve the regime in power. A growing number of the region’s increasingly autocratic governments watched enviously the emergence of Chinese corporate titans from Tencent Holdings Ltd. to Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. — in spite of draconian online curbs. And now they want the same.

The more free-wheeling Silicon Valley model once seemed unquestionably the best approach, with stars from Google to Facebook to vouch for its superiority. Now, a re-molding of the internet into a tightly controlled and scrubbed sphere in China’s image is taking place from Russia to India. Yet it’s Southeast Asia that’s the economic and geopolitical linchpin to Chinese ambitions and where U.S.-Chinese tensions will come to a head: a region home to more than half a billion people whose internet economy is expected to triple to $240 billion by 2025.

New study: Number of Germans brutally attacked and murdered by migrants doubled in one year

According to statistics published by the Federal Criminal Police Office, Germans are significantly more likely to become victims of a crime committed by an immigrant than vice versa.

Its 2018 report “Crime in the Context of Immigration” analysed statistics of murders, homicides, assaults, robberies and offences against sexual self-determination and personal freedom.

The research set out to determine how many crimes involved “asylum seekers and refugees”, as well as people who are awaiting deportation or already have a residence permit.

230 Germans were killed, which is twice as many as in 2017.

The number of Germans sexually assaulted by asylum seekers and refugees also spiked to 3,260.

In total, almost half of victims of serious crimes by foreign perpetrators (46,336 out of 101,956) were Germans. This is 19 percent more than in 2017.

Data relating to crimes against asylum seekers or refugees allegedly assaulted by a German suspect showed that 8,455 foreigners were victims (24 per cent more than in 2017).

Notably, in 2018, only 18% of foreign victims were hurt or killed by a German suspect. Which means that people seeking asylum are mainly attacked by those with a similar background.

The refugee policy and “open borders” approach, in particular, have prompted criticism against Angela Merkel’s government.

Satellite images show Iran missile factory in Syria destroyed by Israel air strikes

The Israeli intelligence firm, ImageSat International (ISI), yesterday released satellite images claimed to show “the complete destruction of a possible Iranian surface-to-surface missile factory” in Syria’s Masyaf District, allegedly struck by Israel on Saturday.

“The main industrial structures were completely destroyed, including the main hangar and the adjacent three production hangars and buildings. The rest of the structures were affected and damaged by the blast,” the firm said, adding that they “assess that all the elements and/or equipment which were inside are completely destroyed as well.”

Israeli Intel Times news site yesterday reported that the Israeli attack which occurred at 2:30am destroyed dozens of Iranian-made “Earthquake 2” missiles.

According to the site, the Iranian missiles carried warheads weighing up to half a tonne, which could be improved to increase accuracy and range

The site claimed that Iran took advantage of the Israeli elections and delivered two shipments to the military airport in Tifur, Syria.

Meanwhile, Syrian local media reported that the Israeli air forces carried out air strikes against army positions near the city of Masyaf in the Hama province which destroyed some buildings and wounding 25 people.

Arab League envoy: Foreign countries fuelling war in Libya

The Arab League envoy to Libya Salah Eddine Jamali has condemned foreign nations’ interference in Libya, which he says are escalating violence in the divided country.

“There have been daily international interferences in Libya,” he said. “These countries are encouraging the war, not halting the conflict and laying down arms.”

Accusing Libyan politicians of inviting in foreign governments, Al-Jamali called on rivals to “lay down arms and return to the negotiating table”, arguing “violence does not solve problems”.

“The Arab League rejects violence and taking up arms instead of dialogue,” he said. “The league seeks to maintain Libya’s unity and territorial integrity and seeks to bridge the gap in viewpoints.”

The statement comes as renewed military confrontations in Libya approach its second week, after General Khalifa Haftar launched the “Flood of Dignity” campaign on regions in the west of the country, including the capital Tripoli. The move was widely condemned by the international community, who warned that it could plunge the country into active civil war once again.

At least 121 people have been killed and more than 560 have been injured in the violence; the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that 13,500 people have been displaced so far, with only 900 being sent to shelters.

Wonder(Actually I don't kek) what the Flat Earth DumbFKs will say about this kek

SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket launches its first commercial payload — then aces a triple landing

More than a year after SpaceX sent its Falcon Heavy rocket on a majestic test launch, the second Falcon Heavy put a satellite in orbit today for its first customer.

Then, for the first time, all three of the rocket’s reusable booster cores landed safely and successfully. SpaceX also recovered both halves of the rocket’s nose cone and intends to reuse those components as well.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk celebrated the day’s successes with a string of exuberant tweets, punctuated with hearts and rocket emojis.

“The Falcons have landed,” he wrote.

Back in February 2018, the test payload was SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster with a mannequin nicknamed Starman in the driver’s seat.

This time around, the payload was the 13,200-pound Arabsat-6A satellite, which is destined to go into geostationary orbit to provide telecommunications services to the Middle East, Africa and Europe through the Saudi-led Arabsat consortium.

This week’s launch was originally scheduled for Wednesday but had to be postponed 24 hours due to concerns about upper-level winds. In contrast, today’s countdown was as smooth as silk, with nary a concern about the weather.
