Oh, my goodness, could that be the truth?

Prinz Ludwig von Hessen und am Rhein?? Landgrafschaft Hessen-Darmstadt???

Incidentally there are many of US (military) facilities as well as interesting industrial (pharma, train tunneling (!) and research projects (ESA, ESOC) in Darmstadt. She has even has family connections to this beautiful German city.

I am completely confused and overwhelmed with the information…

have you seen this >>1433148 ??

this possibility leads to "mountbattan" AND there is a (conspicuous?) accident in the family (= plane crash in November 1936).

Or could that be the right connection? http://www.echo-online.de/lokales/darmstadt-historisch/fuersten/ein-schwarzer-tag-fuer-das-haus-hessen-darmstadt_15511134.htm

The Hesse War (in the broader sense, sometimes in the plural: Hessen wars) was a long-standing, partly diplomatic, partly military fought dispute between the family branches of the Hessian Princely House, especially the Landgraviate Hesse-Kassel on the one hand and the county Hesse-Darmstadt on the other Page. It was triggered by an estate division after the death of the last Allthessian Landgrave Philip I in 1567.

Philip I, last All-Hessian Landgrave († 1567)

The cause of the conflict was the division of the heritage after the death of Philip the Magnanimous in 1567. Following an old house law in the house of Hesse, this had in his will a division of land county under his four sons, the proportion of the Hessian territory of succession decreased.

The eldest son, Wilhelm, received the Niederfürstentum in the north of Hessen (hereafter Hesse-Kassel) with the city of Kassel, a total of about half of Hesse.

The second eldest son, Ludwig, received Upper Hesse in the middle of Hesse (hereinafter referred to as Hesse-Marburg) with the city of Marburg and the fortress Giessen, about a quarter of Hesse.

The third oldest son, Philipp (the Younger), received the lower county Katzenelnbogen in western Hesse (hereinafter referred to as Hessen-Rheinfels) with Rheinfels and Katzenelnbogen, just over one-eighth of Hesse.

The youngest son, Georg, received the Obergrafschaft Katzenelnbogen in the south of Hessen (hereinafter referred to as Hesse-Darmstadt) with the city of Darmstadt, a little less than one-eighth of Hesse.

After the extinction of the line Rheinfels in 1583 Hesse Rheinfels was proportionately divided among the three brothers of the late Philip II.>>1453654
