I have no love for Christianity. Much of the pain in my childhood was caused by pious hypocrites who imagined that psychologically torturing children 'for their own good' was somehow a good thing to do.
I never imagined that I would ever find common cause with the followers of an imaginary sky fairy whose worship was imposed on my people from outside.
I've slowly come to realise over the past few months that I was mistaken, and this situation with Notre Dame (I've been, it's beautiful, regardless of my religious views) has confirmed it beyond doubt.
My enemy's enemy is my friend. Even if we're not the closest of buddies. As an atheist, I'd far rather live amongst Christians than amongst followers of the other Semitic faiths.
