"The charges in this criminal complaint focus on a specific illegal agreement that Assange and Manning reached in furtherance of Manning's illegal disclosure of classified information," Brown wrote. "As explained below, investigators have recovered Internet ‘chats' between Assange and Manning from March 2010. The chats reflect that on March 8, 2010, Assange agreed to assist Manning in cracking a password stored on United States Department of Defense (DoD) computers connected to the classified Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet). Manning, who had access to the computers in connection with her duties as an intelligence analyst, was using the computers to download classified records to transmit to WikiLeaks."

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has subpoenaed Trump financial information from Mazars, an accounting firm that once prepared several years' worth of President Donald Trump's financial statements, according to a Monday memo to committee members from Chairman Elijah Cummings.

Cummings had said he intended to issue a "friendly subpoena" because Mazars USA had requested it from the committee before providing records.

Cummings is requesting financial information dating back 10 years after Trump's former personal attorney Michael Cohen accused Trump of inflating his net worth in an attempt to buy the Buffalo Bills football team.

In the memo, Cummings said the subpoena is also based on "corroborating documents" that "raise grave questions about whether the President has been accurate in his financial reporting."

https://www.nationalreview.com/bench-memos/second-circuit-to-flip-to-majority-of-republican-appointees/

Second Circuit judge Christopher F. Droney announced today that he will take senior status on June 30, eight days after he turns 65. Droney was appointed to the district court by President Clinton in 1997 and was elevated to the Second Circuit by President Obama in 2011.

Droney’s is the second “future” vacancy on the Second Circuit. Dennis Jacobs, appointed by President George H.W. Bush, will be taking senior status on May 31.

These two future vacancies are on top of the two existing vacancies to which Michael H. Park and Joseph F. Bianco have been nominated. The Park and Bianco nominations await action on the Senate floor; I’m guessing that they will be up for a vote right after the Senate returns from its Easter recess.

When President Trump fills these four vacancies, the Republican appointees on the Second Circuit will outnumber the Democratic appointees 7-6.

French billionaire François-Henri Pinault said Monday night he and his family will donate 100 million euros to help reconstruct the Notre Dame Cathedral hours after a catastrophic fire tore through the historic structure, collapsing its spire and causing significant damage.

"My father [François Pinault] and I have decided to release as of now from the funds of Artemis a sum of 100 million euros to participate in the effort that will be necessary for the complete reconstruction of Notre Dame," Pinault wrote in a statement.

François-Henri Pinault is the chairman and CEO of the international luxury group Kering, which includes Gucci and Saint Laurent, and president of the French holding company Groupe Artemis, which owns the fine arts auction house Christie's.

French President Emmanuel Macron said late Monday that he planned to launch a national fundraising campaign to rebuild the centuries-old cathedral.
