I can think of a few reasons why he might want to deflect away from that line of questioning even if he was a white hat.

The fact of the matter is that to question the official narrative of 9/11 is to invite extreme derision, ridicule and unnecessary scrutiny over oneself and one’s work. JA May have simply calculated that it wasn’t worth it - after all, he had plenty of work left to do exposing the ‘’’current’’’ crimes of the cabal. Talking about 9/11 in those terms would have made him instantly toxic to the minds of most of our asleep countrymen.

I have no idea whether he is white/grey/black. But don’t count him out just because of this.
