I don't think many could afford those tests, much less get a doctor to write an order / script for one without "just cause"; without an order or script, insurance will not pay, leaving you with a hefty bill.
I have had a ton of experience with how fucked our medical system is over the past few years, trying to get a doctor to order an MRI, is like pulling fucking teeth. Some of these arrogant bastards run around with the "God" complex of if they can't help you, no one can. So you end up in a situation like mine where I am stuck with a condition and no answers, yet, not one doctor was willing to refer me to another specialist…
