A little context on Peruvian Ex-President suicide
So if you don’t know, Peruvian Ex-President shot himself in the head today. Police came to his house to arrest him, he asked to make a phone call, then stepped into a side room and blew his brains out.
The reason he was being arrested was because of accusations of taking bribery money from Brazilian Congrlomoarate Odebrect, Odebrecht Organization is a Brazilian conglomerate consisting of diversified businesses in the fields of engineering, construction, chemicals and petrochemicals. But it all came crashing down in 2015 when the CEO, Marcelo Odebrecht was arrested. The US Department of Justice called it "the largest foreign bribery case in history”. In the case brought by the US Department of Justice, with Brazil and Switzerland in December 2016, Odebrecht and its petrochemical subsidiary, Braskem, admitted bribery to the tune of $788m (£553m) and agreed a record-breaking fine of at least $3.5bn in Brazil alone.
The Odebrecht bribery went father than just Brazil. It goes to Peru, Ecuador and even Africa. Also, who else is involved? Maduro. Apparently in the Venezuelan 2013 election Maduro needed money and went to Odebrecht for it, according to Euzenando Przerers de Acevedo. Euzenando Prazeres de Azevedo, who managed the Venezuelan operations of the company, Odebrecht, said he was “asked for a large sum” by a representative of Mr. Maduro when he was running for the presidency in 2013.
“He asked for 50, and I accepted to pay him 35 million,” Mr. Azevedo said.
Wouldn't be surprised to find out the Odebrecht scandal is related to Maduro's current problems.
Before the Scandal broke, it looks like Odebrect was the shadow master of South America, now his puppets are being locked up or suicided.
