Also you have to take into account that Jesus Christ was speaking Aramaic. I happen to read and write in Aramaic. I also know the Assyrian language, which stems from Aramaic.

 

What Jesus Christ was saying is "I tell you today, you will be with me…."

That expression is used a lot in the Assyrian language so I know what it means. It's like saying, Mark my words, in the English language. He was making a statement emphasizing the truth of it. That one day he would be with him in paradise.
