"between President & Russia" seems oddly worded (especially since most of the post has "the President". It is possible that Mueller was investigating Obama instead for Russian Collusion. He may have been tasked with investigating Uranium One, considering he was hand delivery samples for Clintons and past administration.

It was already public information that Mueller had been delivery uranium samples due to the Wikileaks dump (you're the man, Julian) and would not allow a treasonous person to hold the position for no reason.
