I read a book like that once, can't remember the name, but basically you create a virtual world. The main story of the book was testing whether the autoverse worked, or rather whether the transferred consciousness would accept the artificial world and not go nuts, etc.
It also posited that any construction in the real universe continued to exist once created, so creating the autoverse with simple self referential rules would guarantee that it would go on forever (without power), or somesuch.
FIFA is gonna be pissed.
