Oddly, New Mexico has some of the most restrictive "laws" in the U.S.
They also have many of the least followed laws in the U.S.
Basically, the Indians ignored white man's law and the state is too big and sparsely populated to do jack shit about most things.
I agree - the governor is an idiot.
Every few elections they get a decent one but much of the time…the governor is an idiot.
Remember - Gary Johnson was governor before leaving office to do a round the world balloon tour (no lie) - probably stoned the whole time.
Then he ran for president - still stoned the whole time.
In addition - their legislative bodies are "part time" - in session for less than 2 months every OTHER year….again, no lie. They can call special sessions - and they do but having a part time legislature ensures that you only get rich people who can afford to skip out of their job for a few months periodically…
If there were more people in the state - it would be a fucking disaster but there aren't.
they have about 1.5 million people - and most don't give a shit.
