Churchill’s Sinking of the French Fleet (July 3, 1940)
On June 13, 1940, Winston Churchill took one of several trips to France during Hitler's Blitzkrieg. After convincing the French not to sign a separate armistice with Germany just two months prior, Churchill was now being begged to release them from the obligation. When a country loses its will to fight, there's not much you can do to inspire them to anything but quit.
That left Churchill with a loose-end on his mind: The French Fleet.
By June 10, 1940, the French Army was shattered, but the French Navy was amazingly intact. François Darlan, the Admiral of the French Fleet told Churchill point-blank that the Fleet would be sunk before it was surrendered to the Germans.
Churchill later remarked of Admiral Darlan that he had "but to sail in any one of his ships to any port outside France to become the master of all French interests beyond German control." Darlan could have become "the chief of the French Resistance with a mighty weapon in his hand." Churchill believed the Admiral could have been the "Liberator of France".
But that was not to happen. Although Admiral Darlan was strong in his commitment to prevent the Germans from seizing a single French ship, Churchill was not convinced. Losing Britian's last fighting ally in the war is one thing, but allowing that ally's fleet to fall in the hands of the Germans was something to lose sleep over.
The concern was not over the French using their fleet to assist their new conqueror. The real concern was that Germany would train their own sailors to command those ships.
Members of Britain's own navy spent time with the commanders of the French Fleet. They were convinced that the commanders were dedicated to the cause of not surrendering to the Germans.

Donald Trump Challenges ‘Total Bullshit’ Statements in ‘Crazy’ Robert Mueller Report
President Donald Trump challenged statements on Friday that White House employees made, as detailed in the Robert Mueller report.
“Because I never agreed to testify, it was not necessary for me to respond to statements made in the ‘Report’ about me, some of which are total bullshit & only given to make the other person look good (or me to look bad),” Trump wrote on Twitter.
Trump did not detail which statements by which people he was challenging, but it was clear he was upset by parts of the report that included meeting notes. He challenged them as “fabricated & totally untrue.”
The report reveals that Trump was correctly suspicious of notetaking by his White House counsel, Don McGahn, and others.

Are “Conspiracy Theories” Tearing Society Apart Or Saving Us From Destruction?
The phrase “conspiracy theory” is often used by establishment agencies, the mainstream media and useful idiots as a tool to dismiss legitimate evidence or viewpoints that disagree with their predetermined version of events. This method of propaganda was not always as widespread as it is today. The phrase was not “created” by the CIA, but it was in fact weaponized by them in the 1960s after the assassination of John F. Kennedy with the express purpose of shutting down rational debate.
CIA memo 1035-960, circulated within the CIA in 1967 and exposed through a freedom of information act request by The New York Times in 1976, outlines strategies the agency would use to shut down critics of the Warren Commission Report. Specifically, they suggested the accusation of “conspiracy” with negative connotations attached, predominantly in mainstream books and articles. This was indeed done through the CIA’s many puppets in the media, and the concept of “conspiracy theory” as a pejorative was born.
Through the use of straw man arguments, red herring fallacies and sophistry, the incredible scale of evidence (exposed by investigators like New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison) suggesting the Warren Commission was either corrupt or ignorant in its findings was buried in a flurry of hatchet jobs and hit pieces. And this was the goal, of course; to attack the messenger and silence the truth without having to go through the ugly process of directly confronting the truth.

Manufacturing in the European powerhouse remains in a slump, so does factory output across the euro-area in combination with an overall decline in economic activity. This hamstrings the cautious optimism of the European Central Bank, hoping for a stabilisation of the situation.
The beginning of the second quarter has been marked by shrinking factory output in Europe’s largest economy, while manufacturing and a broader scope of economic activity in the region are shrinking, Bloomberg reports, analysing IHS Markit’s data.
The manufacturing PMI (purchasing managers' index) has shown a slump for the last four months, which casts a shadow over the European Central Bank’s hopes for overcoming the decline. While the ECB has decided not to raise its interest rates this year, the German government is expecting the weakest expansion in six years. In contrast to the manufacturing PMI, the composite PMI shows much better dynamics, indicating growth in March.

He’d broken in, made his way to the 12-year-old’s bedroom and began stripping as if he was preparing to rape her.
“He got undressed in my daughter’s room,” Burton said. “Like, what was your intentions? … You are sick.”
Given Oliver’s history of sexual abuse, the threat was grave.
Burton explained that her daughter didn’t panic despite this utterly terrifying situation unfolding in front of her.
“She was really smart,” Burton said. “She hid under the cover, turned her light down, turned her volume down on her phone to text me. When she peeked under the cover to see where he was at, she got up and ran away. She went to the back room. And I think that was really brave and smart of her.”
