Judge rules Flint residents can sue federal government over water crisis

Judge Linda Parker of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan said the government is not immune from a lawsuit. Parker, though, did not rule on whether federal employees were negligent in addressing Flint’s contaminated water.

Residents have long blamed the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for waiting too long to intervene after a change in water treatment practices allowed lead to leach into the city’s tap water.

The contamination began in 2014 but continued for years as local and state officials provided inaccurate information about the safety and issues with city water. EPA officials knew residents were not being warned of the contamination.

“These lies went on for months while the people of Flint continued to be poisoned,” Parker, an Obama appointee, wrote in her order.

The EPA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Climate group’s attempt to ‘shut down’ London Heathrow airport fails after only a few handfuls of people show up

A climate activist group’s reported vow to “shut down” Europe’s busiest airport Friday turned into a flop when only a few handfuls of people showed up – and were quickly surrounded by police officers.

Videos circulating on social media showed British cops standing in a ring around activists from the Extinction Rebellion group, while cars streamed a few feet away – undeterred – into London’s Heathrow airport. The group, which has snarled traffic and public transit in the U.K.’s capital this week through a series of blockades and protests, has been trying to force the British Parliament into accepting their climate action-related demands.

Agree anon.

I take solace in believing there is a lot of action to protect us going on behind the scenes and that NONE of this would have happened had HRC won.

Also strongly believe the white hats are catching many fish in a rapidly expanding target rich environment.

Haul in the net too soon and let fish escape.
