I don't think anything can be taken for granite. Even though it's open source the kernel development is rife with politics and fuckery. And that's just the kernel. The various distributions all have their own politics and no doubt agendas.

Not totally batshit crazy, but it's usually the element number which is taken in to consideration in the general mindset. I'm thinking mainly of Farnell changing its name to element14โ€“it didn't change its name to element28, kek.

Keep an eye on it though, atomic mass has a couple of decimal places to play with usually too.
