Facebook has been caught stealthily updating a weeks-old blog post regarding password security on Facebook and Instagram, on the same day the Mueller report was released.

 

The company admitted on March 21 that it had failed to securely store users’ passwords, logging them and storing them unencrypted in plain text. The problem was initially detected as far back as January.

 

An hour before the Mueller report was released on Thursday, Facebook spin doctors amended the number of Instagram users affected from “tens of thousands” to “millions.” Quick maths.

“(Update on April 18, 2019 at 7AM PT: Since this post was published, we discovered additional logs of Instagram passwords being stored in a readable format. We now estimate that this issue impacted millions of Instagram users,” Facebook wrote in the amendment.

 

“We will be notifying these users as we did the others. Our investigation has determined that these stored passwords were not internally abused or improperly accessed).”

Russian children won’t have to rely on foreign combo vaccines, as the first domestically-produced 5-in-1 vaccine, designed to protect from five dangerous diseases, has obtained a license.

 

The new pentavalent vaccine is designed for children six months old and up, and protects against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B and – for the first time – Haemophilus influenza type b (Hib). Before this vaccine was invented, children were given separate shots for each.

According to the manufacturer, Nacimbio, the 5-in-1 puts less stress on the child’s immune system because it contains fewer antigens, while ensuring protection from the diseases. The new vaccine doesn’t contain thimerosal – a mercury-based organic preservative that has been used in a number of drugs and many vaccines.

 

Combination vaccines such as pentavalent vaccines ensure better vaccination coverage and also help to reduce stress from vaccination as they only receive one shot, the manufacturer says.

 

Another key difference is that the new vaccine contains acellular pertussis vaccine (aP), which has a lower risk of side effects, thus making it suitable for chronically ill children.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Roman Polanski asked a judge Friday to restore his membership in the organization that bestows the Academy Awards nearly a year after he was expelled from it for sexual misconduct.

 

Lawyers for the 85-year-old fugitive director petitioned Los Angeles Superior Court to compel the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to make him a member in good standing again.

 

In May, the academy made the rare move of expelling Polanski and Bill Cosby, months after ending the membership of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

 

Polanski appealed the decision, and in January the academy rejected his appeal.
