Wrong. So wrong. You've got it backwards. Christianity slapped its holy days right over top of the pagan festivals that were in place hundreds of years before. It was a calculated move by the papacy to erase the pagan dates. Spring fertility festivals (bunnies and eggs) overwritten by the messianic story literally, which was ripped off of several other religions that came before it.

 

Same with Christmas and the solstice festivals as well as the ritual of bringing evergreen boughs into the home, overwritten by the "Christmas tree".
