This conversation on ‘death to drug dealers’ is like having a conversation about ‘death to murderers who use guns’ – the point is not how people are destroyed, the point is that people are knowingly being destroyed for profit. Whether that is being done using guns, or drugs, is not the point. Just like removing guns from people who mind their own business and do no harm is ridiculous – so is punishing drug users who mind their own business and do no harm. This whole discussion is conflating multiple separate issues. By all means discuss how to deal with people who knowingly do harm. However – ‘drug dealers’ covers people selling drugs on the streets to help support their own families, and the intent is not to harm anyone, but to provide a service, in a savage system, where some drugs are deemed ‘illegal’, and others – demonstrably more harmful – are sold by corporations for vast profits in our shops, bars and restaurants, and millions of people feel the need to ‘self-medicate’ to even survive in our psychopath-driven cultures. I have known drug dealers who are amongst the most civilised, considerate and thoughtful human beings I have met – having a debate that even suggests that such people should be executed is indicative of a level of stupidity and barbarity that is beyond depressing at this point in our history. Let’s talk about how we deal with those who knowingly do harm to others on a vast, industrialised scale – that is the issue.
