Poverty is primary. With regard to Mexicans I can say this: the mexicans who immigrate are very hard working people. Father and mother bith work at all times of day and night. There is no one to really direct the kids and make sure they don't get into trouble. With that said, I once had a kid who worked for me who told me that his mother did not work outside the home. He said she made sure he was involved in positive things, and that she would kill him if he had joined a gang.

Mexico has always had corruption issues. There is no middle class. You are rich or poor. One of my Mexican friends tells me that the gov't is also racist against the native peoples. I am hoping that Obrador can effectively address these issues. It can only help us.
