The issue has nothing to do with file size.

There's a (very minor) bug in the 8ch server code where it treats files named .jpeg different upon hover than .jpg or .png

If you hover over PB notables you'll see that files named .jpeg don't appear but files named .jpg do. (Both should appear).

.jpeg == .jpg it's just a naming difference, the file structure is identical.

Memefarmer uses a script to clean the memearchive files, convert over-large .png files to .jpg with a little compression, and rename .jpeg → .jpg

Also those technically inclined might want to check out TRIMAGE, an interesting app I've been using for a few weeks now to remove excess bytes (unnecessary color profiles etc.) from .png and .jpg files.

We are a graphics warehouse and ammo armory, so we are continually trying to raise our game to a higher level.

Trying to keep file sizes manageable for the archive, for the benefit of phonefags with limited storage, to help ensure good response time on the site for everyone.

>>6272491 Yes - Code Monkey has the power to fix it I believe. A codefag reported the bug on /sudo a few weeks ago. You could report it again if you feel so inclined.

For the purpose of social media, we recommend certain image dimensions. Our reco is at the top of every memes bread.

I don't have much of an opinion about image resolution==72. Personally I use the default, 72. Higher resolution than 72 pixels per inch might be necessary for files that are going to be printed, but for web display 72 works fine.

Meme Makers

Image Size We recommend

• 1200x1200 for Insta

• 1200x627 for Twitter + Facebook

• Top memeanons often make 2 images, one each size.

Filetype: Unless it's a transparent-background .png, scalable vector graphics drawing, or predominantly text, we prefer .jpg to minimize file size. How? After creating image, "Export As," select .jpg filetype. To shrink files even more, try 90% or 93% or 95% quality with no significant fidelity loss. Text MUST be readable. If you can't read it, neither can they! Please spell-check.

8ch BUG ALERT - AFFECTS GRAPHICS FILENAMES

Until fixed, ensure that .jpeg files are named .jpg

8ch's back-end shouldn't treat .jpg / .jpeg differently, but it does

I don't know which platforms Trimage is available for. I run Linux here. There are other apps that do the same thing but I wanted to report that I've been testing Trimage and found it workable/helpful.
