The leader of the United Constitutional Patriots (UCP), a militia group that filmed itself detaining asylum seekers near the U.S.-Mexico border last week, embraced the same rhetoric used by other far-right extremists, including allegedly saying his group was plotting to assassinate Hillary Clinton and George Soros, as well as making a reference to the sovereign citizen movement.

Hopkins’ reference to high-profile Democrats, as well as his use of the phrase “common law wife,” are common fixtures in some far-right circles. Both Soros and Clinton are villains in conspiracy theories like Pizzagate and QAnon. Soros and Clinton were also both targets of Cesar Sayoc, an ardent supporter of President Donald Trump who sent homemade pipe bombs to several Democratic figures who criticized the president. According to The Daily Beast, Hopkins claimed that Trump had also personally asked him about “Muslim immigration” and produced a radio show that spread rumors about the QAnon conspiracy theory.

The smear campaign in full swing

Mexican police and immigration officials in the southern state of Chiapas on Monday rounded up hundreds of undocumented Central American migrants headed for the US border.

It's one of the largest raid targeting a caravan since the exodus began last year and comes as the US ramps up pressure on Mexico to curb the flow of migrants.

What we know so far:

Police arrested 300-500 migrants outside the city of Pijijiapan, Chiapas, reports said.

They were part of a caravan of about 3,000 Central Americans heading north.

Witnesses said authorities forcibly wrestled women, men and children into vehicles.

The migrants were driven to buses, likely headed to migration centers for deportation, according to activists.

Local media reported on Friday that more than 250 migrants were also arrested in the nearby city of Mapastepec.

Those arrested were members of a 3000-strong caravan

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/trump-orders-crackdown-on-visa-overstays

The Trump administration is considering suspending or limiting entry of nationals from countries with high rates of visa overstays as it seeks to clamp down on illegal immigration.

President Trump signed a memo on Monday giving the State and Homeland Security departments 120 days to come up with measures to tackle the problem.

“We have laws that need to be followed to keep Americans safe and to protect the integrity of a system where, right now, there are millions of people who are waiting in line to come to America to seek the American Dream," Trump said.

While recent attention has focused on migrants illegally crossing the border, the nonpartisan Center for Migration Studies says the visa overstays account for a higher number of illegal immigrants.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ilhan-omar-claims-us-forces-killed-thousands-of-somalis-during-black-hawk-down-resurfaced-tweet-shows

A resurfaced tweet from Rep. Ilhan Omar saw the Minnesota Democrat claim U.S. forces killed “thousands” of Somalis during the 1993 “Black Hawk Down” mission – despite multiple analysts concluding the number was much smaller.

In the October 2017 tweet discovered by journalist John Rossomando, Omar was responding to a Twitter user who'd highlighted that more than a dozen U.S. soldiers were killed and another 73 were wounded in the Battle of Mogadishu, saying it was the “worst terrorist attack in Somalia history.”

Omar, a Somali refugee who was then a Minnesota state representative, refuted the tweet, insisting that “thousands” of Somalis were killed by American forces.

“In his selective memory, he forgets to also mention the thousands of Somalis killed by the American forces that day,” Omar tweeted.

She also included the hashtag, “NotTodaySatan.”
