The United States Department of State has Foreign Press Centers in Washington, D.C. and New York. The Foreign Press Centers support U.S. policies by helping foreign media cover the U.S. Their goal is to promote the depth, accuracy, and balance of foreign reporting from the U.S., by providing direct access to authoritative American information sources.
This is the first time the program has been used to target a financial network, such as that which provides the support for Hezbollah to carry out its terrorist activities.
Under the program, money will be paid by the Departments of State and Treasury to those who provide information such as the names of Hezbollah donors and financiers, bank records, customs receipts or evidence of real estate transactions, according to a State Department spokesperson.
