"Three Maryland congressmen have introduced a new resolution calling for the removal of the Gen. Robert E. Lee statue from Antietam National Battlefield.

U.S. Rep. Anthony Brown, D-4th, is the sponsor of House Resolution 970, which was filed in the U.S. House of Representatives in February. The co-sponsors are U.S Reps. Jamie Raskin, D-8th, and David Trone, D-6th.

Trone's district includes Washington County and the battlefield. His communications director, Hannah Muldavin, wrote in an email that the statue is "pro-Confederate propaganda."
