The big hoax was
they took educated young people who saw through the fucking slavery they were being forced to endure
and inserted crap like SOCIALISM, IMMORALITY,
trying to define the generation as something they were not
There were people who fucked up the whole thing with violence and socialism crap
trying to make it look like EVERYONE was just like they were
It was hard to shed.
One story I heard was that a group of people had a group of lawyers who had joined together to start a series of lawsuits to get the govt back on track
and
at the meeting they had arranged
some Hare Krishna kooks walked in and started with some hair-brained ideas
and the lawyers didn't want any part of it
We were non-violent. We wanted our leaders to find a way to make peace, not war.
We didn't want to fight for banana companies or for the right for american corporations to rape other countries of their natural resources.
And then the kooks came in and looked like a bunch of CLOWNS. And maybe they were, at that.
The clowns gave the excuse the govt needed to beat us up and call us names and arrest us.
You don't really think this was a sea cruise, do you?
I know of many instances where hippies were hired just so the company could fire them for some crap they never did – or they gave them jobs that broke their back – jobs not suitable for their strength or skills.
They've tried to put our generation out of business, on all sides.
You have to understand that our parents generation were brought up as authoritarians. You did what you were told. Even churches taught OBEDIENCE. You OBEYED or you needed to be reformed.

who wants to wear a girdle and pantyhose
who wants to live in fear of their bosses
and tip toe up to their door and say
"can I have some more, please sir"
oh hell no
you wouldn't know what freedom was
and we were a generation ON OUR OWN
no one understood what we had gone through
and why we said "hell no"
Our country was an AUTHORITARIAN country.
