Cohen Betrayed: Tom Arnold Leaks Phone Call Where Former Trump Attorney Admits To More Lies

President Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen has backtracked in a recent recorded phone call, claiming he's not actually guilty for crimes he pleaded guilty to.

In a conversation with Trump-hating provocateur Tom Arnold, Cohen said that he hadn't evaded taxes, and that a criminal charge linked to his home-equity line of credit was "a lie," according to the Wall Street Journal.

Arnold recorded Cohen without his knowledge for approximately 36 minutes during a March 25 phone call, which Arnold provided to the Journal.

"There is no tax evasion," said Cohen on the call. "And the Heloc? I have an 18% loan-to-value on my home. How could there be a Heloc issue? How? Right?…It’s a lie."

In the 36-minute recording, Messrs. Cohen and Arnold covered a range of issues, from the legal troubles of former Stormy Daniels attorney Michael Avenatti to Mr. Trump’s affinity for the leader of North Korea.

Mr. Arnold said he made the recording without Mr. Cohen’s knowledge. Mr. Cohen has himself surreptitiously recorded conversations. During a raid of his home, office and hotel room in April 2018, the Federal Bureau of Investigation seized recordings the lawyer made while talking to journalists, political allies, and others, including Mr. Trump. During the call last month, Mr. Arnold praised Mr. Cohen for standing against the president. “You are a hero and you’re not alone,” Mr. Arnold said. -Wall Street Journal

Cohen tells Arnold he pleaded guilty in AUgust because "they had me on campaign finance," while prosecutors were also targeting his wife - whose name some of the $2.4 million in interest payments he received from loans was deposited, New York federal prosecutors wrote in a court filing.

"I love this woman, and I am not going to let her get dragged into the mud of this crap," said Cohen. "And I never thought the judge was going to throw a three-year fricking sentence."

Amazon Accused of "Crushing" Its Merchants By Undercutting Products With Its Own

With every passing day, Amazon merchants are feeling increasingly like they are on the wrong end of a lopsided deal with the company.

In Jeff Bezos' shareholder letter released days ago - and covered here for its jab at other online retailers to raise their minimum wage - the CEO touts the success that merchants have had, even going so far as to suggest they were "beating Amazon at its own game", because they made up 58% of all sales. But of course, this still makes Amazon the biggest winner. The company takes 50 cents on every dollar spent online, which is significantly higher than peers like eBay, who take just 6 cents per dollar.

This near-monopolistic dominance has Amazon increasingly in control of the $600 billion online retail market that's growing at triple the pace of retail spending. While merchants gravitate toward Amazon at higher rates, the company has raised how much it takes from each sale. Its share has "almost tripled to more than 40 percent in the past few years," according to merchants quoted by Bloomberg.

Boeing 737 Max Unsafe to Fly: New Scathing Report by Pilot and Software Designer

A pilot with 30 years of flying experience and 40 years of design experience rips decisions made by Boeing and the FAA.

Gregory Travis, a software developer and pilot for 30 years wrote a scathing report on the limitations of the 737, and the arrogance of software developers unfit to write airplane code.

Travis provides easy to understand explanations including a test you can do by sticking your hand out the window of a car to demonstrate stall speed.

Design shortcuts meant to make a new plane seem like an old, familiar one are to blame.

This was all about saving money. Boeing and the FAA pretend the 737-Max is the same aircraft as the original 737 that flew in 1967, over 50 years ago.

Travis was 3 years old at the time. Back then, the 737 was a smallish aircraft with smallish engines and relatively simple systems. The new 737 is large and complicated.

Boeing cut corners to save money. Cutting corners works until it fails spectacularly.

Aerodynamic and Software Malpractice

Please consider How the Boeing 737 Max Disaster Looks to a Software Developer. Emphasis is mine.

The original 737 had (by today’s standards) tiny little engines, which easily cleared the ground beneath the wings. As the 737 grew and was fitted with bigger engines, the clearance between the engines and the ground started to get a little…um, tight.

With the 737 Max, the situation became critical. The engines on the original 737 had a fan diameter (that of the intake blades on the engine) of just 100 centimeters (40 inches); those planned for the 737 Max have 176 cm. That’s a centerline difference of well over 30 cm (a foot), and you couldn’t “ovalize” the intake enough to hang the new engines beneath the wing without scraping the ground.

For the First Time, Fmr Big Pharma CEO Arrested for Conspiracy for Fostering Opioid Crisis

In the name of fighting the opioid crisis, the federal government has begun arresting big pharma CEOs who have pushed tens of millions of opioids into the streets.

From the Sackler family — who has made billions from selling opioids to the masses — to the doctors arrested for pushing their pills on unwilling Americans, lawsuits and charges in the opioid crisis abound. However, the companies responsible for distribution of these drugs have largely gone on unscathed, until now.

In a first in the government’s battle against the opioid crisis, the former CEO of one of the largest opioid distribution companies in the country, Rochester Drug Cooperative, and the company itself have been criminally charged with conspiracy.

According to Federal prosecutors, Rochester Drug Cooperative was charged Tuesday with narcotics conspiracy and conspiracy to defraud the United States. The former CEO of the company, Laurence Doud III was charged with narcotics conspiracy and conspiracy to defraud the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York charged Rochester Drug Cooperative (RDC), one of the country’s largest distributors of opioids, with “knowingly and intentionally” violating federal narcotics laws “by distributing dangerous, highly addictive opioids to pharmacy customers that it knew were being sold and used illicitly,” according to a press release, as reported by ABC.

Doud, according to the charges, distributed tens of miillions of oxycodone, fentanyl, and other opioids, knowing there was no legitimate need for them.

“Today’s charges should send shock waves throughout the pharmaceutical industry reminding them of their role as gatekeepers of prescription medication,” DEA Special Agent in Charge Ray Donovan said in a statement. “DEA investigates DEA Registrants who divert controlled pharmaceutical medication into the wrong hands for the wrong reason. This historic investigation unveiled a criminal element of denial in RDC’s compliance practices, and holds them accountable for their egregious non-compliance according to the law.”

With all the “shock waves” created by the charges, RDC agreed to non-prosecution consent and will pay a fine of $20 million. As for Doud, who was led away in handcuffs on Tuesday, he faces up to 10 years if convicted.

While many folks might see this as some sort of victory, arresting people to solve a drug problem has never worked. The United States has constantly kidnapped and caged people for selling various substances it deemed illegal, which has created the opposite scenario of the intended outcome.

Instead of deterring drug use, it’s been expanding, getting worse, and drugs have become more available and more dangerous.

Report: Illinois' Democratic billionaire governor facing federal investigation for toilet-based tax fraud

Four of Illinois' governors have gone to prison in the last half-century.

Illinois' Democratic billionaire governor J.B. Pritzker is under a criminal tax investigation by federal authorities, according to a report from Chicago's WBEZ radio station.

Pritzker, his wife and his brother-in-law are under investigation for a questionable residential property tax appeal that plagued him during his previous campaign, the station reported.

A Cook County Inspector General's report that first came to light in October said that $330,000 in tax breaks and refunds that then-candidate Pritzker received on a 126-year-old Chicago mansions resulted from a "scheme to defraud." One way that Pritzker and company have been accused of doing so is by removing toilets.

According to the report, now-first lady Pritzker wanted the toilets removed on the property with no directive to reinstall them in an effort to have the property reassessed as "uninhabitable" for the purpose of receiving tax benefits.

The report contains a 2015 work-order email from a plumber who worked on the house.

May to Let China Build UK 5G Network, Damaging National Security, Anglosphere Co-operation

Theresa May appears set to approve Chinese participation in “non-core” elements of Britain’s 5G network via Huawei, delivering a blow to the Five Eyes security alliance of Anglosphere nations, reports suggest.

The British prime minister overrode the objections of Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson, Home Secretary Sajid Javid, Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, Trade Secretary Liam Fox, and International Development Secretary Penny Mordaunt at a meeting of the National Security Council to allow Huawei, an allegedly employee-owned Chinese telecoms giant, to develop “non-core” infrastructure for the 5G network, according to The Telegraph.

Digital minister Margot James has pushed back on the reports somewhat, not denying that Huawei will be involved in 5G development, but claiming that “In spite of Cabinet leaks to the contrary, final decision yet to be made on managing threats to telecoms infrastructure.”

Many senior Tories are concerned that the Prime Minister’s rumoured decision will deal a severe blow to the Five Eyes intelligence network, comprising the Anglosphere nations of the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

The U.S. is keen that Five Eyes members do not involve Huawei in 5G development, as it could afford the Chinese Communist Party regime a back door to spy on their activities.

The Australian government agrees, warning that there are “serious concerns over Huawei’s obligations to the Chinese government and the danger that poses to the integrity of telecommunications networks in the U.S. and elsewhere”.

“There’s a reason others have said no,” commented Tom Tugendhat, the chair of the House of Commons foreign affairs committee.

“It is unwise to co-operate in an area of critical national infrastructure with a state that can at best be described as not always friendly.”

There is a risk that the United Kingdom could be shut out if intelligence-sharing if a Huawei connection leads to it being perceived as a “weak link”, potentially leaving the British more at risk from international terrorism and hostile state actions than its allies.

GRAPHIC — Mexican Mayor Kidnapped and Murdered amid Tribal Dispute

MORELIA, Michoacán – An apparent dispute between government officials and tribal leaders over the disbursement of funds in the state’s Purepecha region appears to be the motive behind the kidnapping and murder of a local mayor. The murder follows a long history of ties between cartels and tribal leaders in the region.

This week, a group of gunmen stormed the home of David Eduardo Otlica Aviles, the mayor of Nahuatzen, and took him at gunpoint in front of his family. Hours later, authorities discovered the politician’s body in the nearby town of Coeneo. Preliminary information provided to Breitbart News by the Attorney General’s Office in Michoacán revealed that Otlica’s body was bound with rope, showed signs of torture, and suffered numerous gunshots.
