Trump thinks NSA has Clinton's deleted emails
"I hear the NSA maybe has the emails," the GOP presidential nominee said in a phone interview on Fox News's "On The Record."
"A lot of people say the NSA would have the emails if they really wanted to get them."
[Clinton], the Democratic nominee, deleted more than 30,000 emails from the personal email server she used while secretary of State.
On Friday, a federal judge ordered the State Department to begin releasing by Sept. 13 any relevant emails found among the 15,000 recovered during the FBI's investigation of the private server [Clinton] used. What those messages contain, however, or how many will be released is unclear.
Trump said she deleted the emails because she knew they contained "very, very bad" evidence against her.
"She knows what was on those emails and it was very, very bad. And maybe somebody should, in fact, ask the NSA whether or not they have the emails," he said.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation in July announced it wouldn't prosecute Clinton for her use of a private email server, though Director James [Comey] called her behavior "extremely careless."
