I heard of a Church that was disfellowshipped by a Baptist assn. for it's non- stance on the alcohol issue. They didn't condemn the use of in their "wording" and was disfellowshiped. In that way SBC Churches aren't really independant when it actually comes to controversial issus.

Independent Baptists are Independent from the get-go. If you don't agree then GTFO and don't go back. If there's twenty baptist churches in a row with twenty different beliefs and they all claim to be Independent Baptist so be it. An Independent Baptist Church could have Pepe on the wall and worship Pepe and eat spaghetti for communion and no one would care.

 

If you tried that in a Southern Baptist they'd be disfellowshipped instantly. Muh Muh Muh Muh But we were independent all along. Yeah, sure. Now, you're just a Baptist Church and not a Southern Baptist since you got thrown out of the National Association. It's much more believable that they're NOT independent when a body goes to 10 different southern baptist churches and sees exactly 1 kind of literature, from the sunday school program to the bulletin insert.

 

Muh muh muh muh you're independent….. yeah, can't think a damn thing for yourself and can't do anything for yourself. What was the Last Supper? A gathering. In someone's home. What was discussed? What was it like? Probably quite similar to a family supper now. I've never seen a family supper where daddy spent the whole meal blabbing and letting his food get cold, which is precisely what happens in a traditional church. Bread and wine was involved, we know that. What IS the last supper? An example to the Church? So why the hell do people sit in rows and listen to one person bitch while their food gets cold? Do you REALLY think that guy is the Pope?

 

Southern Baptists start off Southern Baptist and THEN say they are independent. Doesn't fly with me.

Why the hell does a Southern Baptist Church look like MASS in a Catholic Church? WHY? WHY? WHY?

If I walked into a SBC and took a picture, then walked into a Catholic Church and took a picture, chances are damn good that I won't be able to tell the difference aside from the decorations.

 

And you can stop shilling me because I grew up going to an Independent Baptist Church myself and I've been around Southern Baptist Churches for 20 years as well. So just shut up while you THINK you're ahead.
