It is true all Southern Baptist Convention churches are autonomous bodies. The doctrinal statement is a relatively simple statement on the core beliefs of a New Testament church. It is conservative by definition and similar doctrinal statements can be found in other Christian circles. The sole purpose of the Convention is to share resources for a common purpose. Each individual church determines how much it will share. Each individual church hires their own pastors and staff. Each individual church determines its own polity. Each individual church is free to choose its own curriculum. Each individual church is free to accept or reject any program that the Southern Baptist Convention provides. SO, yes each SBC church is fully independent.
