This Anon is writhing in anger hearing about what happened to 2 of our Troops last week. If we're taking this border security thing seriously, the 2 countries need to be in better communication so terrible accidents don't occur like what almost happened a couple weeks ago.
In any other circumstance, at any other time, on any other day, this little charade would have resulted in American soldiers shooting Mexican soldiers, likely causing a battle.

TLDR:
2 US NG Soldiers were chillin in an unmarked CBP vehicle just south of El Paso on April 13. The vehicle was sitting south of the border fence, but still within US territory.
Then, 5-6 Mexican Soldiers ran up, accosted, and pointed rifles at the US soldiers, one of which gave up his sidearm in an effort to de-escalate the situation.
No shots fired- luckily one of the Americans spoke Spanish, and was able to talk to the Mexican troops, who eventually returned the weapon.
The Mexican troops thought the vehicle and the people inside it were on the Mexico side of the border.
Apparently, that particular section of the border is confusing, and it is assumed/accepted that the Mexican troops weren't trying to overtake the US.
